Williamsburg Community Foundation Completes Successful Year On April 15, at its Annual Meeting, the Williamsburg Community Foundation elected six board members to the Board of Trustees. Vernon Geddy, Stephanie King, and Jane Taylor were re-elected to a second term on the board. Betsy Anderson, Mark Monroe, and Peter Wendell were welcomed as new members of the Board. Linda Baker, who served on the WCF board from 2002 to 2010, was acknowledged for her service to the Foundation, especially her work leading the Development and Donor Relations Committee through the Chairman’s Challenge Campaign.
Vernon M. Geddy III completed his term as chair of the board of Trustees and was honored for his work in leading the Foundation through its Tenth Anniversary. In his remarks, Mr. Geddy reflected on WCF’s accomplishments over the past year, which included exceeding fundraising expectations. The Chairman’s Challenge program raised over $750,000 for the Community Endowment Fund, the source of competitive grants for the community. The 10th Anniversary Gala, celebrating the Foundation’s support of the community since 1999, raised $95,000 to support endowment and other Foundation activities.

Karen Jamison was elected to a two-year term as Chairman of the WCF. Other officers elected include, Marc Sharp, Vice Chairman; Robert Topping, Treasurer; and Stephanie King, Secretary. Mrs. Jamison made a few brief remarks at the meeting, thanking those who had gone before her: Trist McConnell, John Jamison, John Curtis, and Vernon Geddy. She noted that the Foundation is about to enter a period of planning and setting goals for the next five years.
The Williamsburg Community Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations in the greater Williamsburg area and administers Leave A Legacy Greater Williamsburg.
