>John Jamison - Chairman's Challenge
In April of 2007, John Jamison offered the foundation a challenge; to raise $1,000,000 for the Community Endowment. John offered $300,000 in matching funds to make that happen. On November 22, 2009, at the Foundation's 10th Anniversary Celebration, John announced that his Chairman's Challenge had resulted in 83 funds being created, raising nearly $800,000. In 2008, a beloved member of the Williamsburg community passed away, John A. Hyman. His caring nature and generous spirit were well known to many of us who had the privilege of befriending him. He first visited Williamsburg because of his passion for researching and collecting antiques but that interest was quickly superseded by his devotion to Betty Crowe Leviner, who he met only weeks after his initial visit. >Shirley and Craig Stambaugh
Shirley and Craig Stambaugh use the Williamsburg Community Foundation as an information center. “It seems like a nice management tool for us,” Craig Stambaugh said. “It supplies us with information on the different groups that are coming to them that we wouldn’t have known about. If it hadn’t been for the Foundation, there’s no way we would have known those groups were out there.” ..more

>Lynne and Bob Kiley
Bob and Lynne Kiley recently donated $1,000 from their donor-advised fund to The Williamsburg Symphonia. The grant facilitated The Symphonia’s Meet the Musicians program, where three musicians visit elementary schools in the area with the purpose of educating children about brass instruments and giving the kids an opportunity to play. The program was one of several grant applications offered as potential funding opportunities to the foundation’s donor-advisors last fall. ..more
