Williamsburg Community Foundation Announces New Office Space

The Williamsburg Community Foundation announced today that it has moved to new office space at 424 Scotland Street in Williamsburg. The new office provides the Foundation with a more visible location right in downtown. Foundation Chairman Karen Jamison noted that “the Foundation is pleased to be moving into a house owned by Colonial Williamsburg and close to the College of William and Mary as well as other organizations such as the Williamsburg Library and Williamsburg Area Chamber and Tourism Alliance. It is an appropriate home for an organization that has been improving the quality of life for area residents for over twelve years.”

Mayor Clyde Haulman noted, “We are pleased to welcome the Williamsburg Community Foundation to its new location in the heart of our wonderful city. The Foundation serves our entire community, but it is particularly fitting on this occasion that we remember its origins and the role of former Mayor Trist McConnell, the founding chair of the Foundation. I know he would be happy to see the Foundation back in the city he loved so much.”

Founded in 1999 during the 300th Anniversary Celebration of Williamsburg, the Williamsburg Community Foundation provides grants to a large variety of nonprofit organizations in Williamsburg, James City County and York County. It also provides scholarships to students in Williamsburg-James City County Schools. Foundation activities are funded completely by contributions from individuals and businesses in our local area. The Foundation is building its Community Endowment in order to support needs in the greater Williamsburg area. Foundation assets are currently $4 million.
