01/12/2012 - Altshuler Memorial Fund Announces Grants to Area Educational Institutions
On January 12, 2012, three area educational institutions were awarded grants totaling $11,900 from the Benjamin R. Altshuler Memorial Fund. The Greenwood Christian Academy received a grant of $2,000 to be used in soundproofing the school's gym. The Tabb High School Wrestling Team received a grant of $5,000 for the purchase of a new wrestling mat. The Hampton High School wrestling Team received a grant of $4,900 to help support its wrestling program. ..more

01/06/2012 - Tornado Victim Gets New Home
On April 16, 2011, a tornado tore through James Banks trailer park, leaving him and his family homeless for most of a year. 10/05/2011 - Williamsburg Community Foundation Announces Grants to Area Charities
On October 5, 2011, the Board of Trustees of the Williamsburg Community Foundation presented grants totaling $35,100 to fourteen nonprofit organizations during a grant award luncheon generously underwritten by The Optimal Service Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. $26,000 was awarded from the Community Endowment Fund while $1,000 was awarded from the Genevieve McGiffert Memorial Fund for the Musical Performing Arts, $2,100 from the Business Partners Make a Difference Fund, $1,000 from the Donald S. and Linda T. Baker Charitable Fund, and $5,000 from the Craig and Shirley Stambaugh Fund. ..more

07/06/2011 - WCF Receives Contribution from Riverside Health System Foundation
The Williamsburg Community Foundation received a generous contribution to its Annual Fund campaign from the Riverside Health System Foundation this week. Pictured in the photo is WCF board member Dr. Roger Schultz receiving the contribution from Debbie Atkinson of the Riverside Health System Foundation. Riverside has been a generous supporter of the WCF for many years.

05/18/2011 - WCF Annual Reception Hosted by Margaret Pritchard
Approximately 90 WCF supporters attended the 2011 WCF Annual Reception hosted by Margaret Pritchard, chairman of our Development and Donor Relations Committee. Each year the Foundation sponsors a reception to honor its Annual Fund Donors. Last year, under Margaret’s leadership the Foundation raised nearly $70,000 for its Annual Fund Campaign. This helped the Foundation’s assets surpass $4 million. This year we have set an even more ambitious goal of $100,000 for the Annual Fund. ..more

06/15/2011 - Middle Peninsula Insurance Agency Announces its MidPen Foundation Fund at WCF
The Williamsburg Community Foundation received a contribution for its Annual Fund Campaign from the Middle Peninsula Insurance Agency’s new MidPen Foundation. Joe Harrow and Bill Morrison of Middle Peninsula Insurance Agency established the MidPen Foundation Fund at the Williamsburg Community Foundation with a gift of $55,000 in 2010. Since its inception, the fund has provided grants totaling $27,700 to eleven area charities including its recent contribution to the WCF’s Annual Fund. ..more

05/13/2011 - Williamsburg Community Foundation Announces New Office Space
The Williamsburg Community Foundation announced today that it has moved to new office space at 424 Scotland Street in Williamsburg. The new office provides the Foundation with a more visible location right in downtown. Foundation Chairman Karen Jamison noted that “the Foundation is pleased to be moving into a house owned by Colonial Williamsburg and close to the College of William and Mary as well as other organizations such as the Williamsburg Library and Williamsburg Area Chamber and Tourism Alliance. It is an appropriate home for an organization that has been improving the quality of life for area residents for over twelve years.” ..more

10/15/2010 - Area Restaurants and Wine Shops Pitch in for Charity
Our Corks for a Cause campaign was a huge success, generating $17,000 in proceeds. The idea was conceived by WCF donors, Judy and Harry Wason. Their goal was twofold—to raise additional funds so that we could increase the number of grants awarded this winter, and to create an event that would be fun for the community while also raising public awareness for what the WCF does. ..more

On April 15, the Williamsburg Community Foundation held its Annual Meeting. Outgoing Chairman, Vernon Geddy reflected on the year's accomplishments which included completing the Chairman's Challenge Campaign and hosting a very successful 10th Anniversary Gala.
