Sustaining our Natural Resources

Mary Jo Headley is a master naturalist and Doug Headley is an avid rower on the Chickahominy, so it made sense for them to focus their charitable giving through the Environment and Conservation Fund at the Community Foundation. Both Doug and Mary Jo feel strongly about caring for natural resources.

“We support conservation efforts on a more global scale but working with Williamsburg Community Foundation was a way that we could bring it a little closer to home, says Doug. It allows us to make an impact locally on issues that have been important to us for a long time.”

Doug and Mary Jo look forward to seeing the Environment and Conservation Fund grow and produce more grants in the future to organizations such as the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, which received a grant in 2017 to renovate Camp Skimino.
